元軍人聞き取りの問題点：なぜ真実を語らないことがあるのか
第二次世界大戦に参加した日本軍将兵の『聞き取り」で真実を話さないことがあった。何故か。
日本の軍隊は戦友愛を基盤とする部隊内の団結が強い一方、他の部隊との競争意識が極端に強かった。自分の部隊の戦果は誇りとするが、他の部隊に劣ったことは些細なことでも極力隠そうととした。部隊内の個人の失敗や不行跡についても同様で、現在でも他人に話さない。
イギリス軍人にも似た事が認められた。

Veterans do not always tell the Truth
The veterans who fought in the World War II sometimes do not tell the truth.
The strong　esprit de corps in the Japanese military unit was based on their comradship, which was fostered by their feeling of competition with other units. The veterans are proud of their military results, but have been determined to conceal anything that might seem to be inferior to other units including misconduct or failure of individual in the unit.
