「１９４２年度・１９４３年度のタイ国招致学生事業による在日タイ国留学生―日本側文献と元留学生の語りの間―」
大戦中の1942年度と1943年度、日泰学生交換協定に基づくタイ国招致学生がそれぞれ6名、来日した。1942年度は一定の成果を収め、1943年度はそうでなかったとされる。
報告者は、2005年10月、招致学生だった当事者に聴き取り調査を行った。
その結果、文献資料からは読み取れなかった事情が明らかになった。本発表では、これらを整理し、こうした研究における聴き取り調査の有用性について述べる。
Cross examination of oral testimonies and documentary evidence: based on the case of ‘Invited Thai students in Japan’ from 1942-1943.
The Invited Thai students　came to Japan based on the student exchange agreement between Thailand and Japan, arriving in 1942 and 1943, during the war.
Japanese documents said that the first six students who came to Japan in 1942 were excellent and well behaved, and the six students who came to Japan in 1943 were academically inferior and not obedient.
The interview with the formerly invited students by the reporter in October 2005 revealed misunderstanding in the documents. The reporter analyzes the differences, and discusses the utility of interviews in such research.
